The heroine of the film is Trinity, an androgynous character, her identity mistaken for that of a man’s. Trinity can be associated with two biblical references, Mary Magdalane (considering that Neo is equivalent to Jesus Christ) and the trinity, as she is the one able to resurrect Neo from his death. Trinity’s role begins as the first mate on Morpheus’s ship and then, as the film progresses, her importance is increased as well as the intimacy of her relationship with Neo.
